A starting signal for World War One
Franz Ferdinand was the emperor of Austria 1896 - 1914. Ferdinand was murdered 1914 when he visited Sarajevo, Bosnia, with his wife Sofia. The visit was to show Bosnia that Austria's strong empire had control over Bosnia. He had been warned that different gangs might feel provoked by his visit, but as a strong emperor he sill went to Bosnia ignoring the risks. During the tour in Bosnia both Ferdinand and his wife was shoot by a man from The Black Hand. The Black Hand was a gang who did not wanted to be ruled by Austria, and they had also caused an earlier accident with another of Ferdinand's entourage.
Most people say that this was the starting signal for word war one. After the shoot Serbia who wanted to rule Bosnia, got mad. This created tensions between Serbia and Austria, and lead to war between the two countries. Serbia was weak alone but was lucky to have Russia as an empire. Austria started to build alliances to, and after a couple of months Germany, France, Britain and Belgium was involved.
